School

Hello everybody! We meet again after a long..............long time!
School has been a lot of fun and I love junior high!  I liked elementary school, but junior high is a lot more fun.  There is more to do and a lot to learn!  I started out the year in Math 7 which was fun, but way to easy.  We did the same stuff we did in 6th grade and before. Mrs. K was very nice, but I really wanted to move to Pre-Algebra, so after the first quarter Mom and Dad asked Mr. P (dean of students) if I could move.  It took a little bit of conviction though, because I was one low for the state tests to be in Pre-Algebra.  But, after Mrs. K telling them that I should probably move, they let me!  So now I am in Miss. F******'s class.  She is also nice, but unfortunately Pre-Algebra is still a bit easy for me, but I will probably just stay in it, or else next year I will have to go to the high school for math.
P.E. is fun!  The only non-fun part is that we have run a certain amount before we start the fun part of P.E.  The first month of school was 2.5 minutes, the next 3, 3.5, etc...now we are at 4.5 minutes which isn't that bad. I am not looking forward to the last month of school where it's about 8 minutes. Ughhh!  Right now I am in a Ping Pong unit which is a lot of fun!  I am partners with Abby who is very sweet and a lot of fun to hang out with!  So far we have won all of our games, so if we win the game on Monday we will be the Ping Pong Champions!!! So, wish us luck!  Along side P.E. is health which is fine, it's a bit boring sometimes, but sometimes interesting.  Luckily we haven't gotten to Human Growth and Development yet!  That is not very fun and this year it is with both boys and girls! Darn.
Orchestra, as you can guess is not very fun.  Miss. M****/D*** is not very nice to me according to what happened with Sam, so my orchestra time is a bit draining. I have a lot of friends in Orchestra, though, which is good! And as of now I am last chair in her orchestra, which is a bit contrasting as I am Concert Master of the Youth Philharmonic!  I don't have much to say about her class!
Social Studies is pretty fun!  We are learning about geography, maps, Canada, etc... It's a bit boring, but Mrs. Br******** is a lot of fun and tells quite a few interesting stories about her life!  We also have Junior Achievement in her class which teaches you about other countries' currency, businesses, and stuff like that.  The man who teaches us always brings in a big bag of candy, and if you answer a question correctly you get one or two pieces of candy! He is cool, and that is always an interesting part of class.
Science is interesting and fun!  Our teacher, Mr. Sp*********, is a new teacher, (his first year teaching is this year) so he is quite often nervous.  He sometimes loses control of the class, but otherwise he is a great, very well at describing things, teacher! We are working on a lab right now, and later this month we are going to build bridges with popsicle sticks!
Choir is a lot of fun! I love singing, and the songs that we sing are always fun.  I am also in Chamber Choir, which you auditioned for.  I made it in, so you go there at 7:00 every Tuesday and Thursday morning and practice then.  We get to perform at a town Christmas Festival! Izzy is in my choir so it is cool.  It is funny, though, because she is an alto, and I am a soprano, so I always have to save a seat for her opposite mine in the alto section.
Language Arts (L.A.) is awesome!  Our teacher Mrs. S**** is a great teacher.  She is great at making things interesting, explaining things, and motivating you.  Even though she gives us 30 to 60 minutes of homework everyday, she is still my favorite teacher, (asides mom :).  We do a lot of stuff in L.A.!  We have read two books, Last Book in the Universe and The Outsiders.  They were both good, but I especially liked The Outsiders.  It was interesting, a little sad, but full of good lessons and motives.  We have just recently started an assignment where we have to pick a text that has impacted our lives in some way, and then write a letter to the author explaining why.  Then, all of the L.A. teachers take these letters and send them somewhere, where they judge which letter wins for states, and then if you win for state you move on to nationals.  It's pretty cool!
Last time when dad went to Germany he brought Sam and I back each a little two inch ostriches.  They are very cute!  I put mine on my backpack for this year, and about a month ago I introduced him to Odin (a nice boy who a know) and we named him Gary.  Ever since then, everybody loves him.  If I give him to Ally in the morning, Odin will have him in 3rd period, Will will then have him from 5th to 7th period, where either Odin or I will have him, and then, sometimes Odin will take him home overnight!  Everybody always asks, "Where's Gary", or "How's Gary," "Can I have Gary?"  It's actually sometimes very comedic, but fun too!

Hopefully I will write soon!

Chapter 1
A Message from Lanaya

“A message from Eden,” he says.  His voice sounds like the whisper of the wind in a clear sky.  “Someone you know says, ’Chox!’ and ‘Don’t forget me!’ and ‘Thank you,’ and a whole lot more.  He grows a little every day and we love him as our own.  Do not despair my friend.  Today is theirs, but the future is ours.”

Two years later…

I sit staring at the piece of parchment I have just received. I am in Ryder’s cube in the stack box.  It’s been two years since I’ve seen Bean, Lanaya, Little Face, and Ryder (since he was wheeled.)  Since the probes have gone things are not as crazy, but the Bully Bangers still rule this latch.  I haven’t spoken to Billy Bizmo in two years either.  He tries to talk to me, but I ignore him and he leaves me alone.  The runners now take paper to the people that can read and I’ve been practicing with this recorder.  The parchment reads,

“Dear Spaz, Little Face is 8 now and has chosen to be called Little Spaz.  He talks about you and misses you very much.  In 20 days I will turn 17 and will be inaugurated to become one of the masters.  I would love for you to be there. If you can, tell the runner and I will try to send someone to bring you and we will also try to fetch Bean.  We miss you. This is the future I was talking about, today is the beginning of the future.”

I sent a yes with the runner and wondered whether it will really happen.  For the last two years I had remembered seeing Bean, taking care of Little Face, learning from Ryder, and knowing Lanaya.  When he was wheeled I tried to stop them, but I had no chance.  They had to blame someone for the disappearance of the probes and Ryder was their target.  That was the day I found out Billy Bizmo was my father. I tried to process it, but to tell you the truth I still haven’t.  I figured if I ignored him, I’d feel better about it.

The Urb is basically still the same without the probes.  There is less violence, but the skies are still grey. Although sometimes I can almost see the blue sky and green grass of Eden.  I hope I can go back there, but I really don’t think that the other masters will allow me into Eden.  Even from Lanaya’s message I knew she was worried.

That night I lay in bed wondering if she would actually send someone to get me and what would happen if she did.  I drifted off and was dreaming of seeing Lanaya again, while wondering if she would still like me, when I woke up to someone on top of me shaking me forcefully. I couldn’t see who it was due to the darkness all around us.

“Get off of me,” I yelled throwing a punch in the direction I thought my attacker was.

“Stop Spaz,” a girl’s voice said.

I stopped in my tracks as the voice coursed through my head.  I knew that voice--it was Lanaya.  I got to my feet and walked over to where I knew my lamp was, I lit it and turned around.  There was Lanaya with her blond hair and perfect, blue eyes, more radiant than ever before.

“Lanaya,” I said.

She ran at me and threw her arms around me and I returned the embrace.

“Oh Spaz, I’ve missed you!”

“I’ve missed you too Lanaya, more than you know.”

I looked in her eyes and remembered how dangerous it was for her to be here. After the probes were taken away Normals were very angry with the pruvs.  I’ve even heard many say that they would kill any that were seen.

“What are you doing here?” I asked her a little harshly.

“I’ve come to take you to Eden, Spaz, don’t you want to come?”

“Of course, but Lanaya you shouldn’t have come.  Normals aren’t too fond of pruvs at the moment and you need to leave now.”

“Oh Spaz, don’t worry, my guards are right outside and I’m not leaving without you.  You're right I should go, but you’re coming with me.”

I knew I wanted to leave, but something told me I was probably never coming back. I looked at Lanaya, looked back at Ryder’s old house and made a decision.

“Alright I’m coming, I just have a couple things to grab.” I replied.

I grabbed my type recorder, Ryder’s old walking stick, a couple other things, and then walked towards the door when suddenly someone screamed!  There was a thud.  I grabbed Lanaya and pushed her behind me.  Something or someone was moving outside the door and it was getting closer.  I grabbed Ryder’s walking stick and opened the door.  Outside were some of the Bully Bangers going through Lanaya’s takvee. Her guards lay passed out or worse ,dead, on the ground.

“Stop!” I yelled raising the cane.

“Oh, if it isn’t little Spaz boy,” The co-leader said in a mocking voice.

He edged closer and as he did, he pulled from his pocket a candle with a small bottle of gasoline.  As I watched, he lit the candle with a match and said,

“Pruvs don’t belong here Spaz boy, and neither do you.”  His face turned into a cruel, nasty smile.

Right then he chucked the lit candle and gasoline at Ryder’s hut.

“Lanaya!,” I screamed.

I ran into the house and grabbed Lanaya by the hand.  I pushed her in front of me and just as I was almost out the door, I suddenly blacked and smelt the familiar smoky smell.

Chapter 2
Waking up in Eden

I woke up to find that I’m lying on a comfortable bed.  My head hurts and I don’t want to open my eyes.  I can’t remember what happened, all I can remember is that Lanaya was there.  Then I fall back asleep.

The next time I wake up someone was holding my hand and putting a washcloth on my head. My vision is blurry and I pass out again.

Finally, I woke up and my vision was a little better.  I was in a large room with big windows and a fan.  I’m tired and my head still hurts like crazy, but I’m feeling better.  I look up to find Lanaya holding my hand and Little Face sleeping in the chair next to me.

“Where am I?” I croaked, “Are you okay? What happened?”

“You're in Eden Spaz, we were at Ryder’s old hut when part of the Bully Bangers Gang came and tried to kill us.  They had just threw the candle with gasoline at me when you ran in and pushed me out the door.  Right as you were about to come out you had a seizure and fainted.  The Bully Bangers tried to grab me, but then one of my guards woke up and took me away.  The Bangers then smashed your head pretty badly before we got to you, and you’ve been asleep for 5 days.  You woke up a couple of times, but then went back into your coma.”

I tried to speak, but no words came out.  I wasn’t sure what to think, how to react, or whether to believe that I was in Eden.

“Oh, I’m sorry Spaz, I didn’t mean to overwhelm you!”

“You didn’t.” I said.

Then I slowly felt myself drifting off again.  I closed my eyes and slept.

When I awoke again, nobody was in the room besides me.  I saw a tray of food next to the bed and picked it up to begin eating.  The food looked delicious, better than anything I had had in a long time!

WOW!!!

Wow! This summer has gone by like lighting, we’ve done so much it’s crazy!

First off, we ended school on Friday and then started Drama Camp the next Monday.  So it was basically like going from one week of school to the next.  It was a lot of fun. We hung out with some of our friends and learned a lot about drama in general.  We were performing “Annie Junior” and it turned out really well!  It was a great experience, and I am looking forward to next year where they are doing the “Susacle” by Dr. Seuss.

After drama camp we left for Chicago where my dad had a business class.  We shopped, went to coffee shops and read, walked around Chicago, went to Navy Pier, and to the beach.  We also went to a really cool, old library that had two big owls on the front and it was about 9 levels.  While we were there they were holding an orchestra/choir concert in Millennium Park for free!  So of course we stayed and it was really good!

After going to Chicago, I had one week off while Sam was at Belen Blank, a camp that she was nominated for by three of her teachers.  During this time I was reading Harry Potter!!!!! I read the first two books in almost a week!  They are amazing, I just finished the series and I am re-reading the sixth one (my favorite one!)
When Sam was done with Belen Blank we came home for one day and then we were off to Minnesota to visit my grandparents, while my mom and dad went on an anniversary trip to the north east.  We were able to play with cows, chase chickens, cook (a lot), read, do math, violin, watch TV, and relax at their house and it was very nice.  The most fun though was going to my cousins’ grandma’s house on a lake and hang out there.  It was so much fun; we swam, went on the pontoon, and for the first time ever ride a jet ski and go tubing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was sooooooooo much fun, I am addicted now!

Then when we arrived back from my grandparents we headed straight for an AWESOME Strings Camp and I had that every morning for four hours.  We played a very cool piece and had lots of fun working in our quartets/quintets/septets!  I also got to hang out with some of my great friends, and it was A LOT of fun! I am so excited for next year and am looking forward to five more years of it!

Then finally we had a free week until Friday.  During this time I went to the pool with a few friends (including my sister) and had a lot of fun.  Then on Friday we went to visit some of our old neighbors, Megan, Hannah, and Lauren.  And with us came Lila, Lauren’s friend.  It was a blast, we did a lot of stuff including; playing with water guns, water balloons, the hose, playing capture the flag with and without water guns, watching a few movies/TV shows and just hanging out, it was a lot of fun! Thank you for having us guys!!! We had a lot of fun!

Then we came back home and now we are only one day from leaving for Europe!!!!!! We are very excited to be adding a fourth continent to our list!  Only three more to go, although I think it might be a little while before we make it to Antarctica!  Well, that’s about it for now, I will keep you posted about Europe.  Two days after we return from Europe we start School!  Wow!
Goodbye for now,
Mak

Schools Out!

Hey guys,

Well, school is out.....this is happy, sad, and exciting all at the same time!

First off, here are some pictures of our "Schools out Pool Party" and the Track Meet!

As you can see, we have been having a lot of fun lately, but I am a little sad that school is out.   This Monday we are starting acting camp, where we are performing Annie Junior.  I am looking forward to it, and now here's how the last bit of school went.  On Thursday we started watching a movie called "The Devil's Arithmetic" taken from the book by "Jane Yolen."  We watched about half of it and then were let out a couple minutes early, because of a storm on the way with 80 mile per hour winds.  It never got to bad and only hit us for about 5 minutes!  The next day (today-the last day of school
), we arrived and finished the movie.  Then we went into our own classrooms and signed yearbooks, which we made and our very awesome!  Mrs. N and Mrs. B also brought in apples, punch, chocolate, mini cinnamon roles, and mini muffins!  We then went into the other class so we could sign every ones yearbook in 6th grade.  Towards the end of the day, we went outside (in the rain) and were able to dunk Mr. B (principle), Will, (awesome bus driver), and Mindy (one of my neighbors.)  It was a lot of fun, and I felt kind of bad for them because it was raining, windy, and a bit cold.  Then we went back inside and finished signing yearbooks.  Then we said goodbye to everyone and left.  It was a lot of fun and I am looking forward to next year, at Junior High!

Talk soon!

Catching Up!

Hey everybody!

A lot has happended since I last posted.
School is going well and it is almost over!  Amazing how quickly this year went!  Only four more days and it will all be over for the summer!

In science we have just finished up our last unit on rocks and minerals and taken a test on which I recieved 91 percent which is pretty good!  In music we finished up our drum unit and then learned a song for Memorial Day, "Fly High You Grand Old Flag."  K-3rd grade sang the first part and 4-6th sang the 2nd part of the song. We also were able to play this computer baseball game with questions about composers and once we got 20 runs, our music teacher let us play a real game of baseball!  So after we got 20 runs we went outside for a game of baseball and so far our team is winning!

In art we are making creations out of recyclable items and my group is making a type of giant that eats trash and recyclable items, and grows bigger everytime it eats some more. The lesson it is teaching is that you must recycle and throw away garbage. (I came up with that :) So that is pretty fun. In P.E. we just recently had a track day!  All of the 6th graders from all the schools in the district gathered at the highschool to do track and field events.  I was on the white team and like always (Hee Hee) my team won--we won by about 30 or 40 points. It was a lot of fun!

In social studies we are learning about Ancient Rome which is ok but not awesome as I am not a complete fan of social studies.  We are also working on our WWII projects for the end of the year.  This is where we have to comlete activities that have to do with WWII and the Holocaust.  This project has probably been my favorite or at least one of my favorites of the whole year!  Math is going well and we just took our last test., so I am crossing my fingers that it will turn out well!  We are also getting the year book ready and I am and editor, which is the best job because you are basically the teachers assistants!  We also get to supervise all of the different committees.  There are 7 committees in total, pictures, toddler photos, favorites, most likely to...blank..., teacher pages, current events, and editors.  There are four editors Miguel, Lila, Clause, and I which is a lot of fun!  The yearbook is almost done and I am looking forward to getting one of them!

Izzy and I usually play basketball for recess which is actually getting a lot more fun then it used to be as no one used to pass us the ball.  But after proving ourselves a few times they finally pass us the ball. (Most of them :P) This one guy I who used to never pass me the ball, but he is starting to now, and I think it might have to do with the fact of how many times I've yelled at him to pass me the ball.  There is also the occasional (almost every time actually) time that the guys that our not on my team try to get me to pass them the ball which is annoying.  There is the one boy **n**m** that in the beginning used to always try to get me to pass him the ball even when I wasn't on his team.  So now every time I play I always ask him to pass me the ball and he will then say "but I'm not on your team" and I will reply "Are you sure?" and he will say, "Yeah," and I will reply again, "Positive?"  It is actually quite amusing!

Outside of school it is also going well and I am sooo looking forward to this summer!  Let me tell you about it: so first of Sam and I are going to this acting camp for two weeks where we are going to perform Annie (the movie Annie) and that will be a lot of fun (I hope.)  Second of all we are going to Chicago for a week for my Dad's work and get to hang around there.  Thirdly we are probably going to see some our old friends this summer, fourth we have Strings Camp which is a lot of fun.  And now for the best ever.................We are going to Europe!!!!!!!!!!!  Also for my dad's work, but we are taking an extra 2 weeks or so to travel around.  We hope to go to Italy, France, England, and Germany!  I am very excited!!!!

Something else that happened is that I am 12 now!  As you can see, a lot has happened.  We were also on TV on Paula Sands Live which was awesome.  We were able to play our violins with this guy named Ben who is a great viola/violinist!  He can also play guitar and he is very good!

Well, that's about it for now...

Write soon!

Almost Over

Here is a poem I wrote…

Almost Over
Almost over, it’s like it never happened.
We read books, and learned facts,
We wished it would go faster.
But now it’s almost over, it’s like it never happened
What felt like forever, is now coming too soon.
Some wish it was over already, I don’t want it quite yet.
Now it’s almost over, and part of me wants it to stop
The other part wants to move on
Almost over, it’s like it never happened
